Navigating mental health care for children and adolescents can be challenging. To ensure a thorough assessment and address your child's mental health needs, our comprehensive psychiatric evaluation process typically consists of three visits. This approach allows us to gather detailed information, conduct clinical assessments, and formulate a personalized treatment plan.

Visit 1: Parent/Guardian Only (for patients under 18)

Purpose: Gathering detailed information

The initial visit is crucial for understanding your concerns, goals, and your child's comprehensive health history. During this session, we will discuss:

  • Your child’s birth, developmental, medical, psychological, psychiatric, and educational history

  • Previous treatments, therapies, support services, and medications

  • Specific concerns and behaviors that prompted the evaluation

This information helps us create a tailored plan for further evaluation and ensures that we address all relevant factors in your child's mental health.

Visit 2: Patient-Only or Patient + Parent/Guardian

Purpose: Clinical interview and assessments

The second visit involves a clinical interview where we discuss the child's symptoms and areas of challenge. Depending on the child's age and comfort level, this session can be conducted with or without a parent/guardian present. Assessments during this visit may include:

  • Behavioral observations

  • Psychological testing

  • Questionnaires and rating scales

These assessments help us gain a deeper understanding of the child's mental health and identify specific issues that need to be addressed.

Visit 3: Patient + Parent/Guardian

Purpose: Feedback session

The final visit is a feedback session where we:

  • Discuss the results of the evaluation

  • Provide initial diagnostic impressions

  • Begin to formulate a treatment plan tailored to your child's needs

This session ensures that parents are fully informed about their child's condition and the recommended steps forward.

Our comprehensive method includes:

  • Lifestyle Modifications: Optimizing sleep, nutrition, and physical activity to support mental health.

  • Therapeutic Referrals: Connecting patients with specific types of therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or family therapy.

  • Mind-Body Interventions: Techniques such as mindfulness and relaxation exercises to promote overall well-being.

  • High-Quality Supplements: Recommending vitamins, minerals, and other supplements to support mental and physical health.

  • Laboratory and Pharmacogenomic Testing: These tests help tailor interventions more precisely, ensuring the most effective treatment plan for each patient.

Our goal is to provide individualized, effective care that addresses each child's unique needs. By the end of our comprehensive evaluation process, we aim to have a clear understanding of your child's mental health and a well-defined path forward for treatment and support.
